I was working my usual duties at the Welcome Desk, when I
noticed that a member was quietly cancelling and then
re-activating a single membership every month. The
member was the aunt of two children, who were taking
turns because she couldn’t afford to pay for both at the
same time. Once I realized their financial situation, we
were able to provide memberships for both children
through our subsidized membership program. The children
and their aunt were ecstatic to find out the great news,
and to know that the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign was there
for them.
